No 650, Item: 14189, Top quality keyless movement by this American working in Switzerland, circa 1890. Potter’s unique ‘AP’ Geneva-striped nickel movement (hunter set), jewelled to the centre in raised gold settings, with cap jewels on balance, lever and escape. Straight line detached lever escapement, the steel club-tooth escape with bevelled and polished tips to the teeth. Compensation balance, overcoil balance-spring with fine adjustment regulator. Snap-on signed enamel dial, original blued-steel hands. 45 mm diameter, 9.5 mm deep, not including centre arbor. Albert Potter, American born, began his apprenticeship in New York and spent some time in Cuba before going to Geneva around 1875. For more information see It’s About Time by Paul Chamberlain.
